Rectangle moves a window. Flincth brings back the whole desk.

Rectangle throws one window at a time into a half, a third or a corner of the screen, and you start over every time your work changes. Flincth remembers the whole desk. One switch moves every app’s window into place, hides the apps you don’t need, and brings up the clipboard history for that work.

Rectangle: one shortcut, one window.

Press a shortcut or drag a window to a screen edge, and it snaps into place. Then the next window, and the next. Rectangle does not remember which apps belong to which kind of work, so the arranging starts again every time.

Flincth: every window, one switch.

A setup names the apps for a kind of work and the region each one belongs to. Switch to it and they all move at once, and the clipboard shows only what you copied for that work.

Why people move to Flincth.

Throwing one window into place is a moment. Setting up the right desk for every kind of work is your whole day.

Your desk, ready in one switch

Coding, writing, meetings: each setup knows its apps and where they go. No more dragging the same windows into the same places every morning.

The right snippets, not all of them

Each setup keeps its own clipboard history, so client notes never turn up in your code and yesterday’s research stays with the research.

Fewer permissions to hand out

Flincth never asks for Accessibility access. It moves windows through the “Flincth Apply” shortcut you install once in Apple Shortcuts.

Nothing to lose by trying

“Not Flincth” puts your desk back exactly as it was, one click away. Your setups and clipboard history never leave your Mac.

Happy throwing one window at a time? Rectangle is a good free tool for that. And because Flincth leaves windows alone after you switch, the two can share a Mac.

Good questions.

Rectangle is free. Why pay for Flincth?+

Because Rectangle only moves the window in front of you. Flincth remembers which apps belong to each kind of work, where each one goes and what you copied for it, and puts all of it back with one switch. Getting close with Rectangle means buying Rectangle Pro for workspaces and a separate clipboard manager.

Is Flincth a Rectangle alternative?+

Yes, for anyone who arranges the same windows again and again. Instead of a shortcut per window, you get a setup per kind of work, with its own layout, its own hidden apps and its own clipboard history.

Why does Flincth need a shortcut instead of Accessibility access?+

Flincth is sandboxed and never asks for Accessibility access. It moves windows through the “Flincth Apply” shortcut, which you install once in Apple Shortcuts. The app walks you through it.

Can Flincth move windows between desktops?+

No. It places ordinary windows on the current desktop and does not move them between Mission Control desktops or into or out of full screen.

Does Flincth snap windows when I drag them?+

No. Flincth applies your layout when you switch setups. It does not watch for drags or rearrange windows afterwards.
